    The 12th Galway Science and Technology Festival will

    The 12th Galway Science and Technology Festival will take place from 9th- 22nd November 2009. The festival is planned by a committee comprised of the region’s leading players in the world of education and industry, who combine to help create an active interest in science and engineering, and all shows and events in the festival are free to schools and to children!

    This year the festival comprises of shows, workshops, robotics competitions, nature walks and talks, paper plane competitions, quizzes, exhibitions, maths workshops, engineering workshops, careers road-shows, rocket workshops, weather workshops and school visits.

    A lot of the events are geared towards connecting with the natural creativity of students. The paper plane competitions, the national robotics competition and the engineering workshops are all about connecting to the innovative mind. One of the highlights of the festival exhibition every year is the schools exhibition where adults never cease be amazed by children’s work from the participating schools, bringing science to life through the most ingenious of methods.

    Medtronic are the main festival sponsor and run a large number of projects involving Galway schools throughout the year. S.A.P. sponsor and play a major role in helping run the national First Lego League robotics final as part of the festival and Boston scientific sponsor the Festival and run engineering projects with Galway schools.
