Professor Dolores O’Riordan is a food expert, specialising in physical and chemical analysis of foods, food formulation technology and processing technologies. During Science Week, Dolores spoke about the role of chemistry in food production and preparation and how it influences our food choices and preferences.

Dr. Christer Fuglesang is a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut. He has participated in two Space Shuttle missions and five spacewalks which makes him the first person outside of the United States or Russia to participate in more than three spacewalks.
During Science Week 2011, Fuglesang spoke to secondary school students about careers in space. He explored the “Life and Science in Space”; looking at what it is like to live in space as well as discussing the experiments being carried out on the International Space Station and what the impact of these experiments could be.
