As part of Coastal Cartographies – Science Week 2025, this walk invites participants to explore Cheek Point, where the Three Sisters — the Suir, Barrow, and Nore — converge before meeting the sea. Guided by heritage fishers, ecologists, and a geographer, we’ll trace the story of this remarkable estuarine landscape, rich in bird life, history, and change.
Here, mudflats and migratory species meet the living memory of fishing, forts, and trade, while the new Belview Port stands as a symbol of Waterford’s evolving relationship with global tides and local ecology. Through walking, storytelling, and creative mapping, participants will reflect on transformation — from river to sea, tradition to industry, and past to possible future. Co-facilitated by SEA School Studios & Labs and Street Art Inc., this session continues our shared journey of mapping Waterford’s changing coastal realities.
