Orbital, the winner of the Booker Prize 2024, is the chronicle of six astronauts aboard the International Space Station as they circle around Earth sixteen times in one 24-hour day. They perform experiments, monitor a typhoon, and contemplate Earth’s place in the cosmos as they experience enmeshment and detachment, isolation and community in their singular tin can.
This Pop-Up Book Club will be a one-off gathering designed to spark conversation and connection through a shared reading of Orbital. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the book’s themes of space, time, humanity, and isolation through guided discussion and informal conversation.
Read Orbital before you come along so you can discuss it with fellow readers and space enthusiasts!
