As part of Coastal Cartographies – Science Week 2025, this walk invites participants to journey through Waterford’s layered histories — from geology and glaciation to shipbuilding, trade, ecology and economies. Together with maritime historian and shipwright Michael Kennedy, we will explore how landscapes are shaped by water, industry, and imagination, and how these traces continue to define our sense of place today. We will also discuss the changing ecosystem, biodiversity and possible futures.
This event blends science, storytelling, and creative mapping, encouraging participants to annotate what they see, hear, and feel — tracing stories of connection from Then, Today, Tomorrow. Co-facilitated by SEA School Studios & Labs and Street Art Inc., this walk marks the first in a series of field sessions that will gather lived and scientific insights to co-create a Living Map of Waterford’s coastal realities.
