Join Dr Fiona Beglane from ATU Sligo, who was co-director of the excavation of ‘Green Fort’, a 17th century bastioned fort located on Fort Hill, in Rathquarter townland in Sligo town during June 2025. This was carried out by students of the Certificate in Archaeological Excavation and Post-excavation and the Certificate in Archaeological Field Studies. Students came from Ireland, the US, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Kosovo, and Ukraine and were joined by community volunteers funded by Sligo Co Council. Dr Beglane will give a stimulating talk on the background of the excavation some of the exciting finds of the project.
