Macnas celebrate 30 years of Science Week as they make their debut in Cork

Macnas, the world-famous theatre company known for its breath-taking outdoor performances, made its debut at the Marina Market on Sunday, 9 November, as part of Science Week 2025. The vibrant venue became the stage for their latest creation – a powerful production that explored the urgent issue of protecting biodiversity loss, highlighting the disappearance of the corncrake, a bird once common across Ireland.

The show delivered stunning visuals that wowed audiences. Flocking corncrake stilt walkers moved through the market, accompanied by Macnas’ renowned drummers who hyped the crowd up. The beloved puppet Lumo stunned audiences, while the newly created Moon Tower added an awe-inspiring centrepiece to the performance.

Performers didn’t just stay on stage – they interacted with the crowd, creating an immersive experience that delighted families and children. Young visitors were especially captivated by the puppet and actors, making the event a memorable highlight of Science Week 2025.
